The things I wish they taught you in school...

Hey internet,

Its me again, the first time mom who goes on hormonal rants. When you become pregnant there's so many things that start happening that they don't warn you about. Breast pain is the most horrible one, then if you're one of the lucky ones you get to feel nauseous all day and vomit which for most stops around the second trimester. Not the case with me.

I decided to eat a burger and fries for lunch and boy was that a mistake. Hello heartburn, I never knew what you were until pregnancy, let alone how to make you less miserable of a symptom. Man does it hurt.

Why in the world do we not learn this in school or why is it not offered as a class in college at least?  The biggest thing I notice is I'm not alone in this. Most women have absolutely no clue what is happening or why so what do we do? We go on the internet. Do you know how hard it is to know if your information is coming from a credible source or if there's research to back it up? Yeah we have doctors but there's not some text hotline you can just send all your questions to as wierd things start happening to you throughout your day. Have you been pregnant and tried to remember to write it down or ask the professionals at appointments? Pregnancy brain is a real thing and boy is it frustrating.

Constipation is a daily battle. Eat more fiber, drink more juice, stay hydrated, and eat prunes. Well, what if, you're living in Japan and you don't have access to all those things? Ok fine even if still I feel like my diets pretty good (minus the hamburger and fries) and I drink tons of juice. It helps but it's still not 100%.

I guess that's the conclusion here, when you're pregnant nothing's 100% so you just gotta embrace it as my mom says. But easier said than done, pregnancy hormones are not fun either and let me tell you, embrace it is the last thing you want to hear. Any unsolicited advice really isn't what you want to hear and you're probably going to bite someone's head off for something they say at least once in pregnancy.

I suppose that if they taught you this in a class you'd probably understand a bit more that you're not crazy. You'd maybe think more about getting pregnant and you wouldn't be so freaked out about certain things and turn to the internet. It'd be like second nature. You'd just know what was normal and not, whether to freak and call your doctor or just take a deep breath. Regardless its definitely far from fun and I'm not enjoying it. I want my energy back and my desire to do things. One day at a time right. It's worth it in the end.

Rant over.
